Wazhma Tokhi

Wazhma Tokhi is the Founder and Executive Director of Pohana Foundation, an organization dedicated to advancing girls’ education, women’s empowerment, and youth leadership in Afghanistan. Since 2013, she has worked to expand educational opportunities for Afghan girls through community-based learning initiatives, with a strong focus on access, inclusion, and long-term empowerment. Her work focuses on ensuring that Afghan women and girls have the opportunity to learn, lead, and shape their own futures. Through her nonprofit leadership and education-focused work, Wazhma has contributed to creating opportunities for Afghan girls and young women to build knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills. As a member of the Board of Directors of Banoo Foundation, Wazhma brings strong experience in education advocacy, community-based programming, women’s empowerment, youth leadership, and public awareness to support Banoo’s mission of empowering Afghan women and girls through education, leadership, and opportunity.
